Rites

Aley Shalechet Ltd. offers counseling services, as well as the option of conducting funeral and memorial rites with an Israeli flavor, all adapted to the individual - from a secular ceremony to full traditional services, according to your preferences.

The ceremonies can be held in any cemetery or Chevra Kaddisha funeral home, or in the private cemeteries run by Aley Shalechet. In general, there is greater flexibility in our cemeteries than in those run by the Chevra Kaddisha, where one must get the agreement of the Chevra Kaddisha regarding the ceremony and how it is to be conducted.

On October 9-10, 2004, we held our first training course for conducting mourning services, with 14 participants. For further details, click here.

In the preliminary stage, one of our ceremony conductors meets with the family, and together, they plan the nature of the ceremony and the order of the speakers, in a way that it will reflect the character and way of life of the deceased and those close to him or her. The ceremony leader helps the family construct an outline for the ceremony that can integrate Israeli and traditional Jewish sources, poetry and modern literature, musical selections, and so on. Additionally, the ceremony conductor helps and guides the mourners in writing personal eulogies, which the members of the family present at the ceremony itself.

For more on this subject - read, "About Mourning Rites – There is Another Way" by Doron Kinor ( Hebrew ).

The ceremony also includes all the necessary accessories, such as auditory equipment, chairs, cold water, handkerchiefs, a speakers' platform, and so on – all suited to the nature and the structure of the ceremony. As needed, we also offer additional services, such as catering, shading, ushers, organized transportation, and so on
